Senior Consultant, Teknion Data Solutions
I am someone who is passionate about solving problems using data and software. I have been using Alteryx for 7 years and Tableau for 13 years and all the data sources I can get my hands on in between. I was a Math major and love statistics and predictive analytics, (particularly with Alteryx), and have also significantly used the geospatial tools and Alteryx's Data Packages. But my strongest skill set is definitely in learning a problem quickly, understanding data models naturally, and being able to blend, reorganize, summarize, and calculate anything you want from your data. I also have significant experience with visualizing data and building interactive dashboards.
I have worked for Teknion Data Solutions since 2008. Teknion is a data consulting firm that provides consulting and training services on any data related problem you have, but with a focus on Data Warehousing, Tableau, and over the past 3-4 years Alteryx. I have worked on projects using all different database systems and platforms, but have focused most of my Analytics and Visualization work with using Alteryx and Tableau. From 2009-2013 I was also attending Wheaton College where I majored in Math and Economics. I was honored to compete in the Alteryx Grand Prix at Inspire 2016 and Inspire 2017 and look forward to more opportunities to engage with the Alteryx community.
I am passionate about helping organizations that need data expertise, yet lack the resources, internal skill set, or training to accomplish their goals. I would be most excited to work with organizations advocating for justice and freedom for all, with a particular excitement in supporting any efforts for immigration reform or opportunities to work with underprivileged populations in countries outside of the U.S. I am also very excited to work on any projects that involve academic research, either in the social sciences or in the hard sciences.
I grew up in Oaxaca, Mexico and am fluent in Spanish. I currently live in Houston and am married to an incredible woman, Lia Smith, who is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a focus on trauma and addiction.
